How to Use Format Painter in DWG FastView for Mobile?

When editing CAD drawings on your phone or tablet, keeping object styles consistent across layers, text, and dimensions can take a lot of manual adjustment. To make mobile CAD editing faster, DWG FastView for Mobile has officially launched the new Format Painter (Match Properties) feature.

How Does Format Painter Work?

Using Format Painter in DWG FastView for Mobile is just like using the Format Painter in Microsoft Word:

• Step 1: Suppose Object A already has the exact format you want. Tap to select Object A on your drawing.
• Step 2: Tap the Format Painter tool in the toolbar.
• Step 3: Tap target Object B (or multiple target objects). Object B will immediately inherit the format and properties of Object A.

Supported Properties & Matching Options

Format Painter supports both basic drawing properties and special object-specific attributes, including color, linetype, text height/font size, and more. You can also customize which properties to match in the Format Matching Options panel:

1. Basic Properties

• Color: Copy object color settings directly.
• Layer: Move target objects to the same layer as the source object.
• Linetype: Match dashed, center, continuous, or ByLayer linetypes.
• Linetype Scale: Synchronize the linetype scale factor.

2. Special Properties

• Dimension: Match dimension styles and formatting.
• Text: Copy text height, font size, and text style.
• Hatch Pattern: Synchronize hatch patterns and scale.
• Polyline: Apply polyline width and properties.
• Viewport: Match layout viewport properties.
• Table & Multileader: Copy table and multileader formatting.
